[[OOC: I'm going to try a thing where I put long form posts like this in some of my characters' journals. If you're craving some long form (or any form, honestly), feel free to jump in and we can have some fun. It can be AU, or part of your character's larger story from another comm, or whatever. It's really just all in good fun. In this instance, you can be the nameless victim of the attack, or just a witness, or whatever suits your creative fancy. Note that all threads here are unrated and could involve all kinds of Rated R content. It's the Punisher.]]

The Punisher was no hero. The Punisher was no anti-hero either. The Punisher wasn't a villain. Many people had called the Punisher many things, and some had been right while others had been wrong. Call him a criminal. You'd be technically correct depending on whose laws you went by. The thing is, the Punisher wouldn't care what you called him. Your thoughts weren't his business. Further, it simply didn't matter to him what the resident society's laws were or were not if they weren't being enforced properly. He would disagree that he's a criminal, but he wouldn't bother to waste his time arguing. Laws came and went. Certain truths, however, were inviolate. There were acts that were inarguably wrong, inarguably evil, inarguably vile. There was such a thing as justice, but it wasn't always achievable. Punishment, however, was always achievable. It's vindication might be hollow, but it was better than nothing. The Punisher wasn't a criminal in his own eyes because laws not properly enforced weren't worth following; they were worthless words fought over by pedantic assholes.

The Punisher was punishment, pure and simple. Punishment for violating the ideals that all peoples knew to be true, whether they codified those ideals or not.

Sometimes, however, justice was possible for him to mete out. Now was one of those times. The person lying on the ground in front of him had been accosted by the group of low-life scum Maggia. Some Maggia didn't have time for this kind of shit, but the lowest rung of their ladder delighted in pointless violence, thieving, and worse. They were no better than a street gang, but they were the pool from which the higher ups pulled some of the brighter spots. Honestly, when (not if) the Punisher killed them, he'd be doing the Maggia a favor. Whether they saw it that way or not depended on how they felt about these particular thugs.

Luckily for their current target, the Punisher had been in the area. He had beaten and disarmed the gang of four shitheads, but he hadn't killed them yet. No, the person on the ground had been the one to suffer at their hands. With a grunt, the Punisher dropped his SMG to the ground and kicked it over to the victim. The men were starting to get up from their beating at the hands of the Punisher, but when they saw that their victim now held the upper hand, they froze in terror. The Punisher merely nodded to the person and started to walk away to give them space to make their decision as to the fates of their attackers.

Justice.

If you'd like an illustration of the Punisher I'm trying to play, check out this video. It is very good.

A warning - It's NSFW due to language and violence.
